The CSIR NET Exam is a national-level test to evaluate the eligibility of the candidates appearing for the exam. The exam is conducted two times in a a year by the NTA(National Testing Agency) . The students who qualifies the CSIR UGC NET will become eligible to apply for the post of Lecturer in the subject falling under the faculty of Science and Technology in multiple Colleges & Universities in India. The candidates who qualifies for the Junior Research Fellowship(JRF) will be eligible to apply for PhD in their subjects in various available Universities in India. JRF students will get some perks like HRA, stipends and other benefits.

The CSIR UGC NET exam is held two times in a year to determine the eligible candidates appearing for the post of Assistant Professor. The Students who qualifies for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will be awarded a stipend and other benefits while pursuing their PhD course.

The candidates who qualifies the exam will become eligible to apply for PhD and/or post of Assistant Professor in multiple Universities & colleges in India. The mode of examination is online i.e. the eligibility test will be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT).

The minimum eligibility criteria to appear in the CSIR NET exam for the candidates is given below:

General/EWS and OBC category students should have a degree in M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/MBBS with a minimum of 55% marks/ BE/ B.Tech/ B.Pharma.

B.Tech/B.E./MBBS/ B.S./ B.Pharma/ final year students whom results are awaited, are eligible to apply for fellowship only

For the SC/ ST/ PwD/Third gender candidates, relaxation of 5% is provided.
